Hello fellow hiking enthusiasts and welcome to Hiking Higher! Hiking has been a passion of mine for what seems like my whole life. I’m always interested in the latest gear and gadgets to enhance my experience and help me reach new heights.
I grew up in southern California where there are an abundance of trails and some of the most amazing mountain to sea views from the top, making hiking one of the greatest escapes from the daily grind.
During the past 4-5 years I have learned so much about hiking and discovered many new (to me) trails. I have also come across products I wish I knew about at the beginning of this journey that I want to share with others at all skill levels.
Hiking Memories
My love for hiking began as a kid growing up near southern California mountains. Though there were plenty of trails, I lived up hills so going down the street to a friends house and back up definitely felt like a hike. Back then I would hit the trails with friends only once or twice a month when we were bored.
It wasn’t until I got my dog (Diogi) that I began to really dive deep into hiking. Diogi was a high energy dog that loved to play, run, and get into everything including trouble. We would go on daily walks in the neighborhood and I would let him run around in the back yard but nothing would calm him down. One day I decided to take him on a hike with me and too my surprise when we returned home he was like a new dog. He wasn’t getting into things or running though the house, he was calm the remainder of the day.
I had found my new hiking buddy and motivation to explore greater heights. Diogi was always so excited to sniff his way up a new trail and to this day he is still just as thrilled.
